Leadership Development

Student Life Excellence Fund: $500 sponsorships (NPHC/ MGC, Leadershape, Big XII Black Student Government, HACU, TACHE, LEAD)

  • Leadershape Scholarship: $500 per student ($5,000 goal)
    • The Lone Star Institute is a joint leadership development experience with our colleagues at SMU & TCU. Each school sends 20 students to participate in this unique and rewarding program. The Lone Star Institute consists of four intense days of dialogue and interactive self-discovery in a supportive Learning Community. Likewise, the Institute challenges students to lead with integrity while working towards a vision grounded in their core values. We are seeking funding to continue sending students, as well as, to explore the possibility of hosting an individual session of Leadershape at Baylor.

  • Christian Leadership Institute Scholarship:  $250 per student ($5,000 goal)
    • The Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) is a four-day leadership intensive offered for rising high school seniors interested in discovering more about who they are; their strengths, passions, and calling; while also challenging their minds and igniting their spirits. CLI equips participants with the skills and confidence necessary to take on leadership roles during their final year in high school and beyond. Participants will learn alongside current Baylor students, and one another, as they engage in challenging interactive activities. Our goal is to expand sponsorship opportunities for students who cannot afford to attend, with the overreaching goal of creating additional diversity within the participants that attend.

  • MLK Scholarship Fund:  $3,500
    • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who truly exemplified the meaning of service through his lifelong efforts to uplift the community. He taught the world that it must dwell in the humanity of others regardless of their skin color, and to love each other as Christ had intended. In his honor, the Department of Multicultural Affairs is awarding the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship to students who demonstrate academic merit, service, and need. To apply, students must complete four short answers that detail their leadership roles, volunteer work, and how their commitment to service aligns with the philosophy and work of Dr. King, as well the impact that their experience in service roles has had on their understanding of self, others, or the community.
