The Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation is committed to developing leaders who are “passionate about health and wellness”. We offer undergraduate and graduate programming in the areas of athletic training, exercise and health sciences, and recreation.
Adopting a physically active lifestyle may be the single best health behavior improving overall health and quality of life. Yet, nearly half of all Americans do not get sufficient levels of physical activity leading to a significant number of co-morbidities and preventable deaths annually. Our faculty are engaged in promising health and wellness research addressing issues that threaten health and well-being across the lifespan. We actively incorporate a service mission within our programs that addresses health disparities at the local community level geared towards teaching practical skills for pursuing positive health outcomes.
