SUPPORT PRIORITIES OF THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING & COMPUTER SCIENCE ON BAYLOR GIVING DAY

ADVANCING AS A PREMIER SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

As Baylor presses on to strengthen its position with the next strategic plan, the newly adopted vision of the School reflecting its vital role at Baylor as an R1 university is: “Advancing as a premier School of Engineering and Computer Science in research and education with a commitment to Christian values.” The three components of the new mission of the School that accompany the vision are: (1) Educate and train future engineering and computer science leaders with a Christian worldview; (2) Discover new knowledge for worldwide impact; and (3) Engage worldwide communities through scholarship and service.

As Dean Daniel Pack, who started his tenure as the fourth permanent dean in 2023, leads the School of Engineering and Computer Science to its future, he identified three initiatives that will support this new mission:

STUDENT SUCCESS FUND

Student success is a high priority for our new Dean. We hope to achieve this through meaningful and valuable student experiences provided by living and learning communities, undergraduate research, internships, student organizations and competition teams, and study abroad programs.

DEAN'S SCHOLARS PROGRAMS

Few investments more directly impact the life of a Baylor student than a scholarship. Gifts to scholarships, including this recently established program, attract high-capable students to existing and new technical academic programs in the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

EXCELLENCE FUNDS

Key priorities for this year include growing our School by expanding our reach through academic programs; Research for worldwide impact; and student success through scholarship and service. The Dean’s Excellence Fund provides the Dean with discretionary resources to support new initiatives.

The impact of giving will lay a foundation today, and the benefits will be realized for generations to come.
