SUPPORT THE BAYLOR BEAR HABITAT ON GIVING DAY

New Bear Presentation Pavilion

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Baylor Bear Program provides world-class care for Belle and Indy, Baylor’s on-campus bear cubs, and focuses on 3 primary objectives:

  • Stewardship through providing the best possible life for the bears
  • Education within the local, state, and national community on the Black Bear species
  • Conservation and advocacy efforts to ensure the continued support and health of Black Bears across the world.

The cub's home, The Bill & Eva Williams Bear Habitat, is a USDA Class C zoological sanctuary, boasted as “the most visited site on Baylor’s campus” offering educational exhibits and dynamic educational presentations. In addition to providing the highest level of care for our bears, the program has a unique national and state platform because of its special relationship with Baylor University. With the platform that the University affords the Bear Program, the program is able to reach large audiences by teaching and sharing the foundational pillars of animal husbandry, education & community involvement, and conservation. Grounded in these three pillars, the program seeks to lead and serve the state of Texas and beyond, in efforts such as animal welfare, animal and wildlife conservation, and K-12 partnerships.
