SUPPORT PRIORITIES OF THE HONORS COLLEGE ON BAYLOR GIVING DAY

The Honors College brings together four innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate programs — the Honors Program, University Scholars, Baylor Interdisciplinary Core, and Great Texts.

AREAS OF SUPPORT

HONORS RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE (HRC) RENOVATION

The HRC is housed in two of the oldest and most distinguished residence halls at Baylor, Alexander and Memorial Halls. Fulfillment of the HRC vision will create a world-class residential learning facility equal to those of the best honors colleges in the nation by providing for the consolidation of all Honors College students, faculty, and staff in one central location, and the full integration of faith and learning, scholarship and teaching, knowledge and service.

HONORS COLLEGE EXCELLENCE FUND

Your gift to the Honors College Excellence Fund helps enrich students' experiences by providing funds to participate in mission trips, participate in research opportunities, and benefit from summer internships at places such as the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Your gift will also help to provide lecture series featuring distinguished scholars and public intellectuals as well as increasing opportunities for faculty development and student recruitment.

DR. ALDEN SMITH ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Gifts to the Dr. Alden Smith Endowed Scholarship supports Honors College students, with preference given to University Scholars. In honor of Dr. Smith, a longtime professor and Master Teacher in Classics, recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to explore at least one course in Classics, such as Greek or Latin language, Greek or Roman history, Classical Philosophy, Mythology, Art, Archaeology, early Christianity or Baylor in Italy.

COSTELL SCOTT ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE HONORS COLLEGE

Gifts to the Costell Scott Endowed Scholarship provide direct support for Honors College students. This scholarship was established by Great Texts alumnus Christopher Scott (BA ’04) in honor of his grandmother.  This scholarship inspires the hope that the HC exemplifies Christian truth, justice, and reconciliation amidst a racial, ethnic, and gender diversity in which we take joy and find enrichment.
