SUPPORT PRIORITIES OF THE COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES ON BAYLOR GIVING DAY
The College of Arts & Sciences is Baylor University's largest academic division consisting of 25 academic departments and seven academic centers and institutes. The more than 5,000 courses taught in the College (in more than 100 areas of study at the undergraduate level) provide the largest portion of Baylor's nationally recognized core curriculum, the foundation upon which every student's educational experience is built.
Arts & Sciences faculty conduct important research around the world. In pursuing new knowledge, faculty members create a community of learning that encourages their students to join them in the discovery and application of that knowledge. Because many valuable learning opportunities can take place outside the classroom, Arts & Sciences students are also offered numerous chances to pursue hands-on internships, national and international scholarships, and study abroad.
The College of Arts & Sciences is under the experienced leadership of its dean, Dr. Lee C. Nordt, and seven associate deans who have identified the following as priorities:
COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The greatest support our Baylor Family can provide our students is created through scholarships. Gifts to our college's scholarship provide direct support for our students as they pursue their academic goals, removing financial obstacles and creating opportunities for success.
COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES EXCELLENCE FUNDS
Gifts to departmental excellence funds help us meet the greatest needs of the College, both our long-term and immediate goals. These resources are most often distributed to students for travel to professional events, internship opportunities and community outreach projects. It also provides support for faculty teaching and research goals that require travel, conference attendance and workshops.
OFFICE OF ENGAGED LEARNING EXCELLENCE FUND
The Office of Engaged Learning provides learning opportunities as a nexus between the classroom and career paths. We continue to grow undergraduate research opportunities, a key factor for many students in determining their college destination. The Office of Engaged Learning helps fund these experiential learning opportunities, opening doors for our students.
COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES SPECIALTY FUNDS & GROUPS
Specific funds allow the college to pursue chairs and research, while unique programs allow students to embrace their intellectual curiosities and combine their majors with practical experience. Gifts to these areas enhance our college.
