SUPPORT FM72 ON BAYLOR GIVING DAY
In the Spring of 1945, Baylor students gathered to pray for revival for 90 straight days. The aftershock of this, the ripples from this move of God were felt throughout Texas and around the world. In this same spirit, thousands of students gather on Fountain Mall each Spring for 72 hours of prayer and worship to seek the heart of God at the heart of the campus. Now it its fifth year, this gathering – FM72 – has grown to become a special time of spiritual pilgrimage and awakening. Many students have expressed an unusual sense of God’s presence in these times, and we hear story after story of lives that were changed in these hours of prayer. This year as we gather again, we echo the prayer of Susie Jaynes who was present in 1945, and say “God, please do it again!”
FM72 brings a palpable energy to campus. It is not uncommon to overhear students inviting one another and mobilizing their clubs, Greek organizations, and friend groups to meet at the prayer tent. The theme for this year is “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). We will have an excellent cohort of worship leaders and speakers on the stage each evening, but this year we are also scheduling focused times of training in different ways to pray and more guided times to help the Baylor community make best use of the space and time in prayer. As one student observed, “Our generation does not know about the mighty move of God in the 1940s that put Baylor on the global map as a force for good. We are just learning about it now, and we have become inspired and challenged by the faithful lives and dedicated service of men and women who came before us. They discovered treasures of God in prayer, and this changed their destinies. We want our priorities to change, our vision to expand; we want to dream again. We want to see a move of God in this generation like that which came before. The prayer of the students for this past year has been, "Lord, do it again."
