SUPPORT BAYLOR CLUB SPORTS ON BAYLOR GIVING DAY
The Baylor Club Sports program provides students with the opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy competition in a recreational and social setting. Baylor currently offers 32 sports open for participation to students, faculty, and staff.
Each of our sports are working toward specific goals, for example:
Baylor Crew is the club rowing team on campus. We have around 40 members and practice every day from 5:00am to 7:00am. During the course of a semester, we participate in around three competitions and use a lot of equipment specific to the sport of rowing. Our current need in terms of equipment is for rowing shoes. These are shoes that are attached in our rowing boats where athletes strap their feet in to practice and compete. Because of the constant wear and tear of this item, we are consistently ordering new pairs. We would like to order a higher quality shoe, so they do not wear as quickly. The brand we are looking at runs around $175 a pair. We have two 8+ boats and four 4+ boats totaling 32 pairs of shoes. All new shoes would run around $5,600. An example of the shoe is shown below:
The other large expense on our club this semester will be for an out of state competition in Oak Ridge, Tennessee called SIRA. We are bringing 18 athletes to this regatta. There are many expenses for this trip including entry fees, van rentals, and hotel rooms. Our club is looking for $2,500 for this trip.
