The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate (FIRE) is committed to excellence in all aspects of Baylor's mission. An aspect that requires significant financial support is our research mission. The FIRE Department believes that academic research in finance is a small part of the search for God's truth about the world He has given us. Moreover, we believe that the scholarly activity necessary for good research sharpens our understanding of the subject material conveyed in the classroom. Thus, the connection between purchasing historical stock return data for a research project and the quality of educational experience is a significant and meaningful one.
Our desire is to use your gift to make the educational environment for students in the FIRE department rigorous and meaningful in a way that serves God above all else. Should you choose to make a donation, your gift will contribute to our ability to do some of the following:
- host a seminar series where outstanding finance professors from around the country present and discuss their latest research in a classroom setting
- enable our faculty to travel to conferences and present their research
- provide breakfast for faculty and students to gather for discussion of research and classroom topics
- purchase necessary datasets for faculty research and for use in some of the more hands-on courses in the department (e.g., Valuation and Mergers & Acquisitions)
