Communication Sciences and Disorders

Who We Are

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is dedicated to educating men and women for worldwide leadership and service in the areas of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Deaf Education by integrating academic excellence, clinical experiences, and service to the community.

We teach undergraduate and graduate students state-of-the-art concepts and techniques in Communication Sciences & Disorders and help them attain their professional goals in a caring, Christian environment.  Our students learn how to conduct clinically-relevant research and to provide evidence-based speech, language, and hearing services to the community.

Why We Need Your Support

In the state of Texas and across the nation, there are shortages of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and deaf educators.  Our undergraduate and graduate programs have been expanding each year to address these unmet needs.  As our student numbers grow, our scholarship funds remain limited for deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Also, as our student numbers grow, we can serve more individuals in the community creating greater demands in our clinic for supplies and greater demands for clinic scholarships for those in the community.

How Your Gift Will Help

Please consider supporting our Scholarship Fund or our Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Fund.

  • Your gift to the Scholarship Fund will help our undergraduate and graduate students pay for tuition, books, and other expenses necessary for their success.
    • Chair Challenge:  The first 50 gifts made to CSD scholarship fund will unlock a $1,500 gift from CSD Martin Family Endowed Chair, Dr. Diane Loeb.
  • Your gift to the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Fund will help pay for needed supplies and clinic scholarships for families and individuals in need.  A semester of speech and language services is on average $300 in our clinic, much less than for private services.  Your gift of $300 will sponsor speech and language services for an individual for a semester in the clinic.  The gift of communication is one that knows no cost.  Please help us to support the training of students and to support the clinical assessments and therapies for those in need.
    • The first 100 donations of $100 will unlock a generous $10,000 donation to our Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic.
