Who We Are:
The study of history provides a critical knowledge of our world’s institutions and values. An understanding of the past can influence our ability to respond intelligently and effectively to the problems of the future.
The Department of History has roughly 175 majors and minors and 22 graduate students, and our opportunities are abundant. Students can take courses on China, the Vikings, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia, the Renaissance, the Holocaust, the History of Warfare, Hunting, Business, Women in America, the American South, the Civil War, and more. With small class sizes, the Department of History fosters a positive learning environment by encouraging intellectual exchange and cooperative relationships. Our graduates are successfully working in a variety of fields, from secondary education to security, public relations to law, business to broadcasting, and graduate school.
