Baylor Black Alumni Alliance

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to aid and support Baylor University in its endeavors to improve and promote the matriculation of Black scholars and to encourage the active participation of its Black alumni.

OUR HISTORY

The Baylor Black Alliance began as the Baylor Black Alumni Club, chartered in 1985 by a group of students who wanted to continue their Baylor experience beyond the halls of Pat Neff. We are committed to the same morals and values that Baylor was founded upon.  Since 1985, we have been able to award more than $10,000 in academic scholarships to deserving minority students.

DR. VIVIENNE MALONE-MAYES BAYLOR BLACK ALUMNI CLUB ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Supporting students through scholarships is an important part of our mission. In February 2000, the Alliance's scholarship fund was named after the first African-American professor at Baylor University, Dr. Vivienne Malone-Mayes; The scholarship was endowed February 7, 2000, and our first scholarship was awarded in April 2001.
