The BAJA organization operates under the Society of Automotive Engineers. The name ‘Baja’ originates from one of the most intense races in the world, where vehicles are driven across the harsh terrain of the desert for thousands of miles. The BAJA organization takes the engineering principles used in that large-scale race and applies them to a collegiate-level competition. This student-led organization dares students from across the globe to design, build, test, and race a four-wheel drive buggy completely from scratch.
The mission of Baylor Baja is to provide Baylor engineering students the opportunity to get comprehensive experience in the full engineering process including concept generation, cost reports, cross-team examinations, design reports, and delivering the final product. Engineering students gain priceless, hands-on experience in both design and fabrication, taking their classroom learning to the next level. We are dedicated to honing the skills of the engineering students at Baylor University and preparing them for their future careers in the engineering industry. Building an off-road performance vehicle is the perfect way to do so.
This achievement can only be accomplished through the generous financial contributions from the individuals, sponsors, and partners of Baylor Baja. The financial aid goes toward the tools and materials to build the physical product; the competition fee; the travel costs for the team to race in competitions. The competitions that are hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers can only be participated in through this additional financial support.
Please consider supporting Baylor Baja on their mission to race in the Williamsport, PA competition by May of 2024. Thank you!
