Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty

The Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty (BCHP) strives to end world hunger. With a mission to cultivate scalable solutions to make that goal a reality, BCHP utilizes research, education, public service, and strategic partnerships to tackle and address the causes and effects of world hunger.

The world needs a Baylor, and the Baylor Collaborative presents the opportunity for Baylor to lead the way in creating scalable solutions to end hunger. 1 in 8 Texans, nearly 4 million people, report experiencing food insecurity while 1 in 5 children report experiencing hunger. In a nation with an abundance of resources, this level of hardship is difficult to understand. When non-profits, corporations, local government and faith communities operate in silos, however, we accomplish much less than we can accomplish together.

With Baylor University being an R1 research institution, the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty has the advantage of providing students the opportunity to research and identify specific gaps and opportunities where aid efforts should be aimed.

One way students can get involved is through the Sustainability Student Advisory Board, which provides an opportunity to offer advice and suggestions from their unique perspective for improvement and to encourage respect and ownership for the environment and world's resources through emphasizing shared responsibility for being environmentally conscious students at Baylor University.
