Jeanne P. Nowlin Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund in Women's Basketball

Celebrating Jeanne Price Nowlin

The Jeanne P. Nowlin Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund in Women's Basketball was established in 2004 by Gail Wright, a lifelong friend of Jeanne Price Nowlin (BA '68) from their hometown of Vernon, Texas. To celebrate the legacy of the former Lady Bear basketball player, the fund supports student athletes participating in the women's basketball program.

A 1964 graduate of Vernon High School, Nowlin earned a BA in Education from Baylor in 1968, where she played on the Lady Bear basketball team and ran track. She was also a member of the Athenean Club (now Kappa Kappa Gamma) and sweetheart for the Taurus fraternity (now Beta Theta Pi).

Nowlin's life work centered on education and athletics. She worked as a teacher and an administrator in Dallas-area school districts before returning to Baylor in 1988. Throughout her career at Baylor, she worked in a number of roles within the Athletic Department, including as the Coordinator of Baylor Women’s Sports, Associate Athletic Director and Assistant Director of the Baylor Bear Foundation. She also served as Baylor’s Senior Administrator and Liaison for Women’s Athletics to the Big XII Conference from 1997 to 2001.

After her Baylor retirement, she continued to live in Waco and support Baylor Athletics until her death in December 2020. Read Nowlin's obituary here: https://www.whbfamily.com/obituaries/obituary-listings?obId=19402409#/obituaryInfo.
