After more than 35 years of teaching at Baylor University, Dr. Sara Stone retired from her post as Chair of the Journalism, Public Relations and New Media Department. A source of wisdom and encouragement for many of her students long after graduation, Dr. Stone built a legacy in her more than three decades at Baylor. She was a faculty member who cared as much about her students’ lives outside of the classroom as she did for their coursework within her popular Media Law and Ethics classes.
Dr. Stone’s knack for breaking down complex problems and teaching her students vitally important critical thinking skills, earned her a reputation as a faculty member who would challenge her students to be independent thinkers equipped to work through noise to problem solve. In her time at Baylor, she served as professor for 23 years before taking on the role of undergraduate program director for the department, followed by an assumption of the role of department chair in 2012.
We are excited to announce that an anonymous donor has pledged to match up to $25,000 so we can reach our goal to raise enough funds to begin awarding scholarships to students from this fund in Spring 2020. If you would like to honor Dr. Stone and also help current and future students, please consider donating soon.
*Dr. Stone will be notified all of the wonderful family, friends, students and colleagues that support this tribute in her honor.
