John (“J. J.”) Joe Memorial Scholarship

Baylor Athletics Hall of Famer and longtime radio broadcaster J.J. Joe, passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 54.


Joe passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 25 at the age of 54. A 2006 inductee into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame, Joe spent 21 years as the Baylor color analyst for the BU Sports Radio Network, alongside the Voice of the Bears, John Morris, and sideline analyst Ricky Thompson.
 
A native of Arlington, Texas, Joe starred for the Bears from 1990-93, ending his career as the record holder in every Baylor passing record category. He led the Bears to consecutive bowl games in 1991 and 1992 and was a four-year starter.


The Baylor Black Alumni Alliance, in partnership with the Baylor Advancement office has set up an endowed scholarship in Joe's name.
